It seems that the Cloud is everywhere. What is it, really? This presentation will break down what “cloud” is and review the advantages and potential drawbacks of public, private, and hybrid offerings. We’ll cover the various “as a service” offerings (SaaS, PaaS, IaaS, DBaaS, DRaaS) and what they are, plus Bare Metal vs. Multi-Tenant options. We’ll also explore operational, financial, and security impacts and let Oracle EBS application users know what the outlook is for their on-premise systems and where people usually start if they want to just “try” the cloud. We’ll also discuss what full or partial cloud migration would take and why “lift and shift” does not get you to the Oracle SaaS cloud. If you’re thinking about a hybrid approach (some applications on-premise / some in the cloud), you’ll need to consider the impact on your real time data capability. Also, if you are considering re-implementing onto the Oracle SaaS cloud, you’ll need to understand the impact on your customizations and why you will also need Platform as a Service (PaaS) for your customizations. This session will provide you with the basics to cut through the hype and provide you with things you will need to consider before you and your organization think about making the jump to the cloud.
